The Greek euro-coins have the designation ΛΕΠΤΑ (Lepta) for cent, as well as ΕΥΡΩ (Euro). Lepta was the earlier designation of the subunit of the Greek Drachme.

Motive 20ct: Ioannis Capodistrias (1776-1831)

Motive 50ct: Eletherios Venizelos (1864-1936)

The pioneer in the field of the social and diplomatic reforms of reputation is one of the more excellent political figures of Greece. He exerted a key influence in the modernization of the Greek State and in the liberation of the north of Greece and the islands of the Aegean

Η μορφή του Ελευθερίου Βενιζέλου (1864-1936), από τις πλέον σημαντικές πολιτικές φυσιογνωμίες της νεότερης Ελλάδας. Υπήρξε πρωτοπόρος κοινωνικών μεταρρυθμίσεων και εξαίρετος διπλωμάτης. The owl is considered as symbol of the wisdom. In the Greek mythology she was the companion of the Athene, Protection goddess of Athens and the sciences. The picture originates from an antique 4-Drachme-coin of the 5. Century bC.

Motive 2€: Kidnapping of Europe

It represents a scene of a mosaic appeared in Sparta (3rd Century b.C.), in that is the kidnapping of Europe by Zeus, that it has adopted the form of a bull. Europe is a personage of Greek mythology, that takes the name our continent.
